

The origin of the 72 names is in chapter 14 of the Book of Exodus, at the exact moment when God opens the Red Sea for the passage of the Jewish people. Verses 19, 20, 21 have 72 letters each. To obtain this set of three-letter names, the first letter of verse 19 is used, the last letter of verse 20 and the first letter of verse 21 and so on with all the letters of those three verses until a “matrix” is formed.
